Quotations from the writings of Ellen G. White with the phrase . . .

a  life  free  from  Sin

The members of the heavenly family are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ--heirs to the treasures of heaven. They will not follow the ambition and madness of this world, to heap up treasures here below, at the loss of a Christian character that would insure them a life that measures with the life of God -- a life free from sin, sickness, sorrow, and death.  {UL 105.4}

 Living  a  life  free  from  Sin

Taking humanity upon Him, Christ came to be one with humanity, and at the same time to reveal our heavenly Father to sinful human beings. He who had been in the presence of the Father from the beginning, He who was the express image of the invisible God, was alone able to reveal the character of the Deity to mankind. He was in all things made like unto His brethren. He became flesh even as we are. He was hungry and thirsty and weary. He was sustained by food and refreshed by sleep. He shared the lot of men; yet He was the blameless Son of God. He was a stranger and sojourner on the earth -- in the world, but not of the world; tempted and tried as men and women today are tempted and tried, yet living a life free from sin. Tender, compassionate, sympathetic, ever considerate of others, He represented the character of God, and was constantly engaged in service for God and man.

     "Jehovah hath anointed Me," He said,
     "To preach good tidings unto the poor;
      He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted,
      To proclaim liberty to the captives,"
     "And recovering of sight to the blind;"
     "To proclaim the year of Jehovah's favor; . . .
      To comfort all that mourn."
                        Isaiah 61:1, A.R.V., margin;
                       Luke 4:18; Isaiah 61:2, A.R.V.
  {MH 422.2}

The Son of God stooped to uplift the fallen. For this He left the sinless worlds on high, the ninety and nine that loved Him, and came to this earth to be "wounded for our transgressions" and "bruised for our iniquities." Isaiah 53:5. He was in all things made like unto His brethren. He became flesh, even as we are. He knew what it meant to be hungry and thirsty and weary. He was sustained by food and refreshed by sleep. He was a stranger and a sojourner on the earth--in the world, but not of the world; tempted and tried as men and women of today are tempted and tried, yet living a life free from sin. Tender, compassionate, sympathetic, ever considerate of others, He represented the character of God. "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, . . . full of grace and truth." John 1:14.  {AA 472.1}
