In whom dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead |

Unconverted men have stood in the pulpits sermonizing. Their own hearts have never experienced, through a living, clinging, trusting faith, the sweet evidence of the forgiveness of their sins. How, then, can they preach the love, the sympathy, the forgiveness of God for all sins? How can they say, "Look and live"? Looking at the cross of Calvary, you will have a desire to bear the cross. A world's Redeemer hung upon the cross of Calvary. Behold the Saviour of the world, in whom dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Can any look and behold the sacrifice of God's dear Son, and their hearts not be melted and broken, ready to surrender to God heart and soul? {FW 16.1} |

So with the followers of Christ. We can receive of heaven's light only as we are willing to be emptied of self. We cannot discern the character of God, or accept Christ by faith, unless we consent to the bringing into captivity of every thought to the obedience of Christ. To all who do this the Holy Spirit is given without measure. In Christ "dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and in Him ye are made full." Col. 2: 9, 10, R. V. {DA 181.1} |

How wide is the contrast between the divinity of Christ and the helpless infant in Bethlehem's manger! How can we span the distance between the mighty God and a helpless child? And yet the Creator of worlds, He in whom was the fullness of the Godhead bodily, was manifest in the helpless babe in the manger. Far higher than any of the angels, equal with the Father in dignity and glory, and yet wearing the garb of humanity! Divinity and humanity were mysteriously combined, and man and God became one. {FLB 48.5} |
Quotes Scripture: Colossians 2: 9 |
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. |
THE INCARNATION OF JESUS CHRIST, THE DIVINE SON OF GOD, "CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY," IS THE GREAT THEME OF THE GOSPEL. "IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY. AND YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM." COLOSSIANS 1:27; 2:9, 10. THE ACCEPTANCE OR REJECTION OF THIS VITAL TRUTH IS ONE OF THE DIVINELY APPOINTED TESTS OF ONE WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE THE GIFT OF PROPHECY. {CET 246.1} |
