Why Satan Hates Us

Why Satan Hates Us by Jahdiel Newman

I want to take a look at Satan’s original scheme in order to show why he directs his hatred towards the human race. Let’s take a look at the revealed thoughts of the devil in Isaiah 14:12-14. In Satan’s plan, he first said he wants to ascend into the heavens and exalt his THRONE above the stars of God, and sit on the mount of the congregation (Isaiah 14:13). Just a side note I would go over verse 12 also but it deals more along the lines of what his objective on earth is and not necessarily his thoughts toward us. Now back to verse 13, the stars are another name for angels according to (Revelation 12:3-4, v 9 identifies the stars that were cast to the earth). So in verse 13 of Isaiah 13, Satan wants to exalt his throne or AUTHORITY, above the angels of God.

Now lets address the next part of the verse, He said he wants to also SIT also on the MOUNT of the CONGREGATION, in the sides of the north. Let’s analyze this statement. What mount is Satan referring to? Well in Hebrew and Greek the word congregation means people or gathering or assembly, the word Mount or Mount Zion is used to describe Gods people (Isaiah 51:16 and Psalms 48:2). So to apply the biblical definition of those words to the statement, Satan wants to sit or control or be the head of Gods people. Now let’s reveal the statement in verse 13 of Isaiah 14. Satan says, “I will ascend into Heaven, and I will exalt my authority above the angels of God and also lead or CONTROL the people of God. I love how God reveals His own word without a dictionary.

Why would he be mad because of that? Well the authority that Satan wanted over the angels of God is actually taken by Jesus Himself, Rev 19:13-14 states that the Word of God leads the army in Heaven, We all know that according to John 1:1,14, the Word of God is Jesus. Jesus spoiled Satan’s plan of ever happening. When Jesus was in Heaven before He became a man, He led the armies of Heaven, now He links Himself to mankind becoming Man, dies and rises again to continue the position of Chief of the Host of Heaven. Satan is furious, but there was also an idea of controlling the people of God. Satan uses sin to put the people of God in bondage and separate them from God (Isaiah 59:2). But thank God for Jesus condemning sin to the flesh and giving us victory over sin, loosing us from the control of the Devil and sin (Please study Romans 6). Jesus by dying in our place sets us free and also He becomes the chief corner stone or in other words the HEAD of the church. 1 Corinthians 12:27 & Romans 12:5 says we are the Body of Christ, Colossians 1:18-19 & Ephesians 5:23 say that Christ SITS or is the Head of the people of God.

This makes Satan upset also But it doesn’t stop him from trying recapture the people of God and lead us to Hell by deceiving and tempting us. We have to be aware that the only way Satan can hurt God is by influencing us to be disloyal to God. God knows his schemes so Jesus blessed us with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), Strength over sin (Romans 8:37), and ultimately power over Satan (Luke 10:18-19). This makes satan Wroth with the people of God, (Rev 12:12-13, 17) and 1 Peter 5:8) shows  the anger that the devil has toward us. I thank God for Jesus, who came down to not only take away our sins but also destroy the works of the devil which is sin (1 john 3:5, 8).

Now to finish looking at Satan’s thoughts in Isaiah 14:14, it says “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.” First in verse 13, we see Satan wanting to exalt his throne above the angels, now he wants to ascend even higher now. What does satan mean by clouds? In Isaiah 19:1, it states that the Lord shall ride upon a swift CLOUD. Does that mean a literal cloud? Well the answer is in Psalms 18:10 which says that the Creator was riding on a CHRUB. Here is another example, in Luke 21 verse 27 it states, “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a CLOUD with power and great glory.” Then the clear description is in Matthew 25: 31 which says “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the HOLY ANGELS with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” As we can see the word clouds in verse 14 of Isaiah 14, is referring to angels or cherubs.

I know you’re wondering why Satan mentions, ascending above angels twice. Well there are different types of angels. According to Psalms 103:20-21; it reveals two types of angels, these are Ministering angels and angels that excel in strength. The Stronger angels are the ones closer to the throne of God, Lucifer used to be one of those angels (Ezekiel 28:14). So in verse 14 of Isaiah 14, Satan wants to ascend above even the stronger angels of Heaven. We also see in Psalms 103:20 that the angels that excel in strength obey the Lord and He leads them and Satan can never take that position from Him. Satan as he led a rebellious army of angels was still defeated by the true Captain of the armies in Heaven (Rev 12:8-9; 19: 13-14). This rebellion is what caused God to prepare a special punishment for Satan according to Matthew 25:41.

Now while he waits for the Day of Judgment, when Satan, his angels, and all who follow and reject the wonderful gift of salvation, will be destroyed, His plan is crumbling in front of his eyes. The number one thing in my opinion that causes Satan so much anger is the last part of Isaiah 14:14. It says …” I will be like the MOST HIGH”. Satan wanted to exalt his throne next to the Most High and be equal to Him. We know that no one is equal to God, and Satan’s pride got him kicked out of heaven. And now his anger rises as our Lord fulfills this promise. Revelation 3 verse 21 says “To him that overcomes will I grant to SIT WITH ME ON MY THRONE, even as I also overcame, and am set down with MY FATHER IN HIS THRONE.” God is going to allow us somehow (I can’t fathom it) to sit on His throne with Him. Satan’s plan has been given to be fulfilled in us through Jesus Christ. This is why Satan hates us. We must walk with caution for Satan’s devices of wrath but at the same time rejoice because through Jesus Christ we can trust in Gods promises and receive power over all sin and refrain from all temptations.
