the  Sixth  Commandment

"Thou shalt not kill."   {PP 308.4}
All acts of injustice that tend to shorten life; the spirit of hatred and revenge, or the indulgence of any passion that leads to injurious acts toward others, or causes us even to wish them harm (for "whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer"); a selfish neglect of caring for the needy or suffering; all self-indulgence or unnecessary deprivation or excessive labor that tends to injure health--all these are, to a greater or less degree, violations of the sixth commandment.  {Patriarchs and Prophets, page 308.5}

In time past there have been presented to me for my opinion many non-essential, fanciful theories. Some have advocated the theory that believers should pray with their eyes open. Others teach that, because those who ministered anciently in sacred office were required, upon entering the sanctuary, to remove their sandals and wash their feet, believers now should remove their shoes when entering the house of worship. Still others refer to the sixth commandment, and declare that even the insects that torment human beings should not be killed. And some have put forth the theory that the redeemed will not have gray hair --as if this were a matter of any importance.  {GW 313.1}

Satan was "a murderer from the beginning" (John 8:44); and as soon as he had obtained power over the human race, he not only prompted them to hate and slay one another, but, the more boldly to defy the authority of God, he made the violation of the sixth commandment a part of their religion.  {PP 337.2}

"In Psalm 138:2 are found these words, 'Thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.' In Isaiah 42:21, we have the prophecy concerning Christ: 'The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.' An illustration of the principle of how it is magnified is found in Matthew 5:21-26, which verses magnify the sixth commandment, while verses 27-32 magnify the seventh commandment. It is this principle alone that is a positive proof of inspiration, and any prophet who does not make other scriptures seem broader and more wonderful, does not bear the right kind of fruit." -- S. N. HASKELL, quoted in F. C. Gilbert, Divine Predictions Fulfilled, pp. 29-33.  {EGWE 244.1}

The  sixth  commendment  is  violated

The Sixth Commandment Is Thoughtlessly Violated.-- To take one's life instantly is no greater sin in the sight of heaven than to destroy it gradually, but surely. Persons who bring upon themselves sure decay, by wrongdoing, will suffer the penalty here, and without a thorough repentance, will not be admitted into heaven hereafter any sooner than the one who destroys life instantly. The will of God establishes the connection between cause and its effects.  {CG 444.3}
